چکیده مقاله
In this paper, the use of the novel Heat Surplus–Deficit Table (HSDT) method for retrofitting heat-exchanger networks is presented, and the amount of energy saving achieved by the ETD approach within the Bridge framework is compared with the HSDT strategy. A milk-powder production plant is examined as the case study in order to evaluate and compare the results obtained from these two methods under identical conditions.
HSDT is a tabular method that enables precise and detailed identification, allowing the Bridge retrofit to be quantitatively determined. The comparison of these two approaches clearly shows that the HSDT method is well-suited for large and industrial HENs, allowing the calculations to be performed more accurately and with less complexity compared to ETD.
Using the HSDT method, six retrofit designs were proposed. Among them, the selected design demonstrates that it can generate an annual energy-saving-based revenue of about 73,000€ and achieve up to a 67.5% improvement in energy-saving potential.
