چکیده مقاله |
This study presents a comparative analysis of two prominent nuclear reactor designs—BN-1200 and VVER-1000—focusing on their respective technical characteristics, operational principles, and fuel cycle dynamics. The BN-1200, a fast neutron reactor utilizing liquid metal coolants, is contrasted with the VVER-1000, a pressurized water reactor (PWR) known for its established efficiency and operational reliability. Key distinctions between these reactor types, particularly in terms of fuel efficiency, reactor safety features, and economic viability, are highlighted. The study also explores the potential of both reactors in advancing nuclear waste management through the concept of closing the nuclear fuel cycle, with specific emphasis on the recycling of plutonium and other actinides. In particular, the role of the BN-1200 in reducing nuclear waste and enhancing sustainability in nuclear power systems is critically assessed. The results underscore the growing importance of advanced reactor technologies like the BN-1200 in achieving both improved resource utilization and long-term environmental sustainability in nuclear energy production. |
